National Sports Day of India
National Sports Day is a public holiday and celebrated in various country As we all know many different kind of sports are played in India. India is home to a varied population playing many different sports across the country. more than a few games originated in India including chess, snooker and other regional games. India has won medals in badminton, kabaddi, hockey and many other sports . However, cricket is the most popular sport in India. The government of India elected 29 august as the India’s national sports day to admiration the national sports teams and sports tradition of those countries.

the hockey player who won gold medals in Olympic for India in the years 1928, 1932 and 1936. He scored over 400 goals in his career, from 1926 to 1948.

he was born on 29 August 1905 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, publicly known as ‘Major Dhyan Chand’. He had joined the army at the early age and learnt the game of hockey from his trainer pankaj gupta and soon turn into an expert in ball dribbling and goal scoring. Due to his excellent playing techniques, he became the Indian hockey team captain and was given the nickname “chand” which means”moon”. During his sports career he won three Olympic medals and the only hockey player who has received the padma bhushan award.His lifetime awards and achievements in sports is measured as the highest point in the history of the Indian sports. Dhyan Chand contributed to the game even after his giving up work; he became the trainer of the hockey team at National Institute of Sports in Patiala.
On this day, the Government of India organizes the ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan, and the President gives out all sports-related awards like Arjuna, Rajivkhel Ratna, Dronacharya and other Awards. The government holds this function on sports day every year to honour sportsperson and coaches who made the country proud with their service in their respective sports. As the celebrations held every year but still very few are aware of the significance. The Dhyan Chand Award which is the nation’s highest award for sporting superiority and has first given in the year 2002 on 29th August.
Many schools transversely the country rejoice their Annual Sports day along with National Sports Day. This is done with the mean of increasing the knowledge of sports to the young children. By educating them about of one of the most sports personalities of India and inspiring them to make a unbeaten career in different posts.
